Join like-minded women to build a Habitat for Humanity home in Chapel Hill in 2010 and have an inspiring experience you’ll never forget!
• Heather Marshburn, a hardworking Chapel Hill mom of two teenage daughters, Sarah and Grace, and young son, Caleb. Help her achieve the dream of affordable homeownership in our community.
• Women from all walks of life who share your values. Make meaningful personal and professional connections.
in the spring when we’ll break ground on Heather’s home in Phoenix Place, Habitat’s new community of 50 green-certified homes in Chapel Hill. This new neighborhood will feature a multi-age playground, picnic area and a community garden. It’s also located near excellent schools and will be on the bus line. No construction skills necessary! You’ll learn everything you need to know on the construction site, led by Faith Gardner, Habitat Construction Site Supervisor and through free Lowe’s Home Improvement Clinics.
a family’s life; homeownership matters. Did you know that one study found that the children of homeowners are 116% more likely than children of renters to graduate from college? (Boehm & Schlottmann, University of Tennessee) Did you know that parents who own their own homes are more likely to become engaged in civic life, such as voting in local elections or participating in the PTA?
Did you know that Habitat homeowners pay an affordable, zero-interest mortgage and are guaranteed to pay no more than $30 per month to heat and cool their homes? This leaves more income left over at the end of the month for families to pursue additional educational and vocational opportunities. Through the 2010 Women Build, you will positively change the lives of one local family, and your life will be enriched with new friendships, skills, and pride!
Women Build is committed to raising $70,000 for Heather's home and the home of a future family. To become a Women Build supporter, visit our donate form. Make sure you enter "Women Build" on the donation form. Thank you for making a difference in your community!
