If you’ve ever been to the ReStore, you might remember that almost every item in the store has a large colorful tag on it: pink, green, yellow, orange or red. This rotating tag discount system differentiates between items that have been in the store longer than others (kind of like a “day old bread” bin at a bakery—but without the staleness).
For example, you might see the words: "Today's tag discounts are PINK and ORANGE." This means the price marked on all pink and orange tags will receive either an additional 30% or 75% off based on their designated markdown at checkout.
We’re excited to announce that just this week, we will no longer offer two colored tag discounts, we now have THREE additional markdowns going on every single day (unless otherwise noted)! Additional discounts are now: 15%, 30% and 75% off the already low priced item. The only items without discounted tags are the items that have just hit the sales floor. As always, we like to remind our shoppers that the price on the item you’re looking at will lower with time, but if you wait to buy it, you’re taking the risk of that item not being there when you return.
Another cool feature on the ReStore sales floor is our Silent Auction. Every day we receive hundreds of donations, some of those donated items are antiques, one-of-a-kinds or just plain unique. Either our sales floor staff or our small donation volunteers work to pull those special items aside and then start the research process. What is the value of this item? Where else can you buy this item? What is the story behind this item? We take that information and create a bid sheet which includes an item description, auction end date, minimum starting bid, minimum bid amount and a buy-it-now price. The buy-it-now price is a fairly new aspect to our Silent Auction, allowing bidders to purchase the item straight out of the auction for a price we have already set (think eBay).
To participate in the silent auction, you receive a bidder ID number from the Customer Service Desk (we respect your privacy) and you place your bid on the specified bid sheet. You can bid on the item as many times as you want until the auction end date. (Note: all of our auctions end at 12:00 p.m.) You do not have to be present to win your item. One of our sales floor associates will call you the day the auction ends to let you know if you are the winner. Then you have two business days (we’re open Monday-Saturday) to come pick it up.
Items that go through our silent auction include: rare artwork and photography, autographed movie scripts and novels, expensive jewelry and clothing, vintage board games and toys, etc. These items do change every week, so check out our website or our Facebook album for the updated items and start bidding!
