Orange Habitat opens applications for the homeownership program twice per year, typically in winter and summer. See below for current and upcoming Habitat communities and fill out the interest form to be notified of application updates.
At Habitat, our goal is to support mortgage-ready residents who are looking to buy their first home. As we work to eliminate barriers to a more financially stable life, we ensure mortgages are affordable for each applicant’s income. Typically, our loans are low-interest with a 30-to-40-year term. We provide homebuyers with the coaching, education, and support to be successful throughout the homebuying journey. We foster community engagement which empowers homebuyers to be the voice to continue to strengthen the fabric of our community.
We are currently building Weavers Grove, an innovative mixed-income community. The site will contain more than 200 single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes, and condominiums when complete, with 102 of these homes purchased by Habitat homebuyers. The remaining market-rate homes, built by Garman Homes and White Oak Properties, offer new opportunities for Chapel Hill homebuyers, at price ranges lower than today’s median home prices.
Auman Village (formerly known as East Village) is located just East of the Orange County SportsPlex in Hillsborough. This development will have 2, 3, and 4 Bedroom townhomes for sale. The development is minutes away from downtown Hillsborough, the UNC Hospital, and plenty of nature trails and preserves with easy access to Durham via I-85.
Located in the heart of the historic Northside Neighborhood in Chapel Hill, the Carver Street project was secured through a partnership with the Northside Neighborhood Initiative. Increasing the availability of housing and finance options is just one of the goals of the UNC-Chapel Hill, Self-Help, the Jackson Center, and Town of Chapel Hill. These two story townhomes are minutes from the Hargraves Center, Northside Elementary, Umstead Park, and downtown Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
Near highway 86/MLK Blvd, Homestead Gardens is a unique partnership between Casa, Community Home Trust, Self Help, and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, NC. Habitat plans to sell townhomes in this development. This development, situated on Town-owned land, is minutes from Chapel Hill High School as well as Smith Middle School and Seawell Elementary School. There are plenty of activities to do in this area as it is close to the Homestead Aquatic Center, The Chapel Hill Skate Park, and the Greene Tract.
