Orange Habitat is celebrating 40 years of impact in 2024 and we plan to honor this incredible milestone all year, with the people who have made it possible! We kicked off our celebration with a visit from the CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, Jonathan Reckford. Jonathan’s visit included a breakfast at the Rizzo Center, sponsored by Blackfin Real Estate Investors and UNC Health. 

The program included an invocation from Rev. Dr. Brooks Graebner, remarks from Jonathan Reckford and a panel discussion with Jonathan, former Executive Director Susan Levy, and current President and CEO Jennifer Player, moderated by Stephanie Watkins-Cruz of the NC Housing Coalition.  

After breakfast, Jonathan visited Weavers Grove to meet the UNC Habitat Club (pictured above) and UNC athletes who were spending UNC’s student wellness day volunteering. This casual visit also included conversations with Jonathan and lunch with some of our regular crew members who come out every week to help build homes. Jonathan grew up in Chapel Hill and is a UNC Chapel Hill alum, so we are grateful for the time he spends coming back home and engaging with our affiliate.
