Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is honored to be recognized with Chapel Hill Magazine’s fourth annual Social Impact Award, featured in the July/August 2026 Best of Chapel Hill issue.

The award recognizes people and organizations making a meaningful, positive impact in our community. We’re grateful to Chapel Hill Magazine for this recognition and proud to stand alongside others working to build a better Orange County for everyone.

This honor reflects the dedication of our homeowners, volunteers, donors, sponsors, staff, and advocates. Our work is possible because of the generosity and commitment of people who believe everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve the stability and opportunity that affordable homeownership provides.

“Jennifer Player, president and CEO, says the organization’s original model was building one home at a time, whereas today it supports the construction of more than 20 homes each year. Orange Habitat’s work has also expanded beyond new construction, helping families with affordable home financing and critical repairs through its Home Preservation Program.

“Housing is an incredibly complex issue, and no single organization can solve it alone,” she says. “It truly takes all of us – and it will continue to – to make affordable housing a reality in Orange County.”
