Early Voting: Make Your Voice Heard this Election

October 23, 2025

Election Day is in just a few weeks, but you can take action now to be prepared to make your vote count this November. The decisions made in local elections directly impact housing affordability in Orange County. To help voters make informed choices, the Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition (OCAHC) has compiled several election resources focused on housing issues.

Important Election Information – Plan to vote early? Voters can request their absentee ballots now, and early voting will run from October 16 through November 1. Election Day is November 4, where voters can place their ballot in person at their designated polling place, which you can find here. Review your sample ballot and see below for resources from the Coalition about the candidates.

Candidate Guide – In August, the Coalition distributed a questionnaire to all candidates running for elected office in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough. You can read the full guide to learn where the candidates stand on various topics related to affordable housing at https://www.ocahc.org/2025-election/2025-candidate-questionnaire.

Candidate Forums – In September, the Coalition, in partnership with NEXT, hosted candidate forums to provide voters with the opportunity to hear directly from local candidates on issues critical to our community, including housing access and affordability, homelessness, and how our towns can respond to reductions in federal and state funding. Watch back the recordings from the Chapel Hill and Carrboro forums at https://www.ocahc.org/2025-election/2025-candidate-forums

By staying informed and voting, we all play a role in shaping the future of affordable housing in our towns. Check out the guides, watch the forums, and help make housing a priority in local leadership.
