Meet a Homeowner Farm to Table Dinner Party: Building a Home for Jasmine

May 22, 2025

On April 26, Habitat supporters gathered at Teer Farm for our 5th annual Farm to Table Dinner Party – a beautiful evening filled with community, hope, and shared commitment. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and guests, we raised over $220,000 to support Habitat for Humanity of Orange County’s mission: ensuring everyone in our community has a decent, affordable place to call home. These funds will build homes for people like Jasmine – a future Habitat homeowner, dedicated mother and educator – who shared her deeply moving journey to homeownership.

Jasmine was one of the four families whose home was built in the Home Builders Blitz in March. She spoke about her village and the village she has built through her homeownership journey with Habitat, even surrounded by some of her new village as her builders BuildSense were with her in attendance at the event. Later this summer, she will receive the keys to her own home for herself and her children.

“I knew what I wanted—to give my daughters a home of our own,” said Jasmine. “A place where we weren’t just passing through, but where we could plant roots. It’s more than a house. It’s a place where my daughters will grow up, where we’ll laugh, cry, and heal,” said Jasmine.

As nonprofits like Habitat learn to navigate various challenges, from rising costs to federal funding cuts, and the growing gap between families and the dream of homeownership, events like this that bring our Habitat village together give us hope. With your support, we’re still able to build a brighter future for families in Orange County—one home at a time.
