Home Builders Blitz: Celebrating 4 Homes in 10 Days
Last month, Orange Habitat hosted it’s first Home Builders Blitz in nearly 20 years, where we built 4 homes in 10 days in the Weavers Grove community in Chapel Hill. This year’s event was made possible by the three home builder partners alongside Habitat for Humanity; BuildSense, Trinity Design/Build, and Bost Custom Homes. These partnerships came together, in collaboration with the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
On March 28, we celebrated the completion of these homes alongside those builders, partners, and homebuyers who will officially close on these brand-new homes in the coming weeks. “This project represents the best of what we can accomplish when we work together,” said Shanell Smaw, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County’s Vice President of Development. “Today we celebrate not only these homes, but the families who will be living in them and who will begin a new chapter of stability and opportunity.”
Communities like Weavers Grove are also made possible thanks to our government partners like the Town of Chapel Hill. “These are truly beautiful homes – I cry every time I think about our educators, our nurses, our bus drivers getting to live here,” said Mayor Jess Anderson. “It takes a village. To the homeowners, congratulations. We are so happy to have you be part of our village.”
Thanks to this Home Builders Blitz, four families will now become first time homeowners who have been waiting over a year will become homeowners in a matter of weeks. “To give my girls something that we can call our own is amazing,” said homebuyer Jasmine. “I’m looking forward to not commuting from Alamance County to Chapel Hill. I’m looking forward to the community, the sense of belonging.”
