Homebuyer Application Cycle: Upcoming Information Sessions
Applications for Orange Habitat’s homeownership program will open on February 20 through March 13, 2025 at 5pm. Properties available through the Spring 2025 application cycle will be 2 and 3 bedroom duplex units at Weavers Grove in Chapel Hill. Orange Habitat opens applications for the homeownership program twice per year, typically in the beginning of the year and in the summer. Applications for Market-Rate homes through Garman Homes and White Oak Properties will be managed directly through the builders.
The minimum requirements for Habitat’s homeownership program are that applicants have lived or worked in Orange County for at least 12 months, are first-time homebuyers, and are able to afford one of our home loans. For the Spring 2025 application cycle at Weavers Grove, the minimum income is $40,000 for a 2 bedroom home and $42,000 for a 3 bedroom home as well as not exceeding 80% Area Median Income (AMI). Home selection is based on income, available home inventory, and household size and these requirements are subject to change per cycle and development.
Orange Habitat will be hosting two information sessions and one application preparation session for interested applicants to learn more about the application process ahead of applications opening. The information sessions will give an overview of the Habitat program and the application process. Both information sessions will cover the same material, so please only sign up for one. The application preparation session will help applicants determine if they are eligible for the program. Sessions are free to attend, but RSVP is required.
