House Party: 26 Years of Raising Funds
On Sunday, November 3, over 80 Habitat friends and supporters gathered at the home of Bobbi & Matt Hapgood in Chapel Hill for the 26th Annual House Party. This year’s event raised over $213,000 to support building homes at Weavers Grove.
The House Party is a lovely afternoon with food, music, and good company. A brief program shared some exciting statistics as we wrap up celebrating our 40th anniversary and updates from our current build site of Weavers Grove, and looking to the future with the announcement of our newest community, Auman Village near the Orange County Sportsplex.
Habitat homebuyer Tatyana also shared her powerful journey to find affordable housing and achieve stability for herself and her son. Despite multiple barriers including being previously denied and then battling health challenges shortly after she was approved this year, Tatyana found the courage and resiliency to keep going. Soon, she will purchase her first home at Weavers Grove. “The setback is just something to come back from,” said Tatyana. “Now I’m healthy, and almost done with my sweat equity hours!”
