Did you know that 70% of adults do not have a will? August is National Make-A-Will Month and an annual reminder to prepare this important document. Creating a will is not as daunting as it may seem, and it’s an easy way to give your loved ones peace of mind during a difficult time.

A will not only show your love and gratitude to family and friends but can also support a nonprofit’s mission after your lifetime. There are many ways you can make a gift today. A legacy gift is not only cost-free during your lifetime but also makes an impact beyond your lifetime.

Consider joining the Framing the Future Legacy Society by including Orange Habitat in your will or naming Habitat as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan this month. There are several ways to make Orange Habitat part of your legacy beyond a will, including establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity. A Charitable Gift Annuity of $10,000 or more provides you with a fixed, guaranteed income for life and supports Orange Habitat with a future gift.  The payment rate depends on your age at the time of the gift – the older you are, the higher the rate. Once you make your gift, the rate stays fixed.

Earlier this year, a first-time donor made an estate gift, and we had never interacted with the individual before their passing. We cannot thank you during your lifetime and include you in the Framing the Future Legacy Society without knowing that we are listed in your will.
