Weavers Grove: First Dedication Celebration

October 29, 2024

In a heartfelt gathering, community leaders, homebuyers, volunteers, and donors celebrated the progress of the Weavers Grove community, our current build site with over 20 homes under active construction in Chapel Hill. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts of all of the different people who have brought the community to life so far.

Notable speakers on the program included Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson, Weavers Grove homebuyers Jennifer Kuysner and Kevin Campbell, and Capital Campaign Co-Chairs Mimi Hock and Betsy Blackwell. “This project really is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the commitment to creating a better future for all residents of Chapel Hill,” said Jennifer Player, Orange Habitat President and CEO.

During this event, an exciting partnership was announced with HOPE NC. 10 homes in Weavers Grove will be purchased by this organization, which serves adults with disabilities, to provide long-term housing solutions. With our existing partnership with B3 Coffee who will have a stand in the Community Center, this new partnership deepens our commitment to serve everyone.

The event concluded with an inspirational quote originally from Randall Wallace on Habitat’s impact: “Habitat for Humanity is a perpetual motion miracle. Everyone who receives, gives – and everyone who gives, receives. If you want to live complacent and uninspired, stay away from Habitat. Come close to Habitat, and it will change you and make you part of something that changes the world.”
